Corpora and corpus linguistics

Basic information for students and interested parties

What is a corpus?

The term corpus refers to a collection of texts (in written, spoken or sign language form) that has been carefully selected, organised and, nowadays, usually digitised to enable analysis and research. Corpora are used in various fields, including linguistics, translation studies and digital humanities.
